On Etsy, photos sell. Your first listing photo becomes the thumbnail in search, the shop banner sets the tone of your shop home, and the shop icon follows you into reviews and messages. Each has its own size.
Listing photos: 2000 × 2000 px
Etsy recommends at least 2000 px on the shortest side so buyers can zoom in without blur. The first photo is used as the thumbnail and is often cropped to a square, so a square photo keeps that crop predictable.
Use the same ratio and similar framing for every listing. A shop where every thumbnail lines up looks more trustworthy.
Big shop banner: 1600 × 400 px
The big banner is the large image at the top of your shop home. Etsy also accepts 3360 × 840 px for sharper display on large screens. Phones crop the sides, so keep your shop name and any text in the centre.
Mini shop banner: 1600 × 213 px
The mini banner is a slim strip used instead of the big banner. It leaves more room for your listings near the top of the page. A pattern, a texture or one short line of text works best at this height.
Shop icon: 500 × 500 px
The shop icon is your logo next to the shop name, in reviews and in messages. It shows small, so a simple mark with strong contrast reads better than a detailed photo.

How to resize for Etsy with ImageSizeTool
- Upload your photo: drag and drop, paste, or click to browse. HEIC photos from an iPhone work too.
- Pick an Etsy preset: open the Etsy group, or search "listing".
- Adjust the crop: centre the product with some space around it.
- Export: JPG for product photos, PNG for a logo with sharp edges.
Your photos are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Common Etsy image mistakes
Tall photos as the first image. The thumbnail crop cuts off the top and bottom. Use a square first photo, then add other ratios later in the listing.
Text on the sides of the banner. It disappears on phones, where most buyers browse.
A different background for every listing. Consistent backgrounds and framing make the shop look curated.
