Discord shows the same image in very different places: a server icon is a circle in the server list, a banner is a strip above the channel list, and an invite background fills the whole screen. Each one has its own size, and some only unlock with Server Boosts or Nitro.
This guide lists every Discord image size in 2026 with the ratio, where it shows, and what to watch for.
Server icon: 512 × 512 px
The server icon appears in the server list on the left, on invites and in mentions. Discord accepts 128 × 128 px, but on high-density screens a 512 × 512 px upload stays noticeably sharper.
The icon is cropped to a circle, so keep the subject in the centre and leave margin around it. Animated icons need Boost Level 1.
Server banner: 1920 × 1080 px
The server banner sits at the top of the channel list. The channel list is narrow, so only part of the 16:9 image is visible there. Put the important part in the centre and keep text short and large.
Profile banner: 600 × 240 px
The profile banner is the strip at the top of your profile card. Your avatar overlaps its lower left corner, so place faces and text towards the right.
Invite background: 1920 × 1080 px
The invite background (sometimes called the invite splash) fills the screen behind your invite link. The invite card sits on top in the centre, so a calm image with detail towards the edges works best.

How to resize for Discord with ImageSizeTool
- Upload your image: drag and drop, paste, or click to browse. JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC work.
- Pick a Discord preset: open the Discord group in the preset list, or search for "discord banner".
- Adjust the crop: drag the frame so the subject sits in the centre.
- Export: PNG for logos and graphics, JPG for photos.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Common Discord image mistakes
Text near the edges of the server banner. The channel list shows only the middle of the banner, so text at the sides disappears.
A detailed server icon. At the size of the server list, fine detail turns into noise. A simple mark or a single letter reads better.
Upscaling a small image. Enlarging a 300 px logo to 512 px makes it soft. Start from the largest original you have.
