Format guide
Each format shows up differently. Here's when to use each one.
Server Icon
512 × 512 px · 1:1
Shown as a circle in the server list and on invites. Discord accepts 128 × 128 and up; 512 × 512 stays sharp on high-density screens.
Server Banner
1920 × 1080 px · 16:9
Sits at the top of the channel list. Discord's minimum is 960 × 540. Only part of the image shows there, so keep the subject in the centre.
Profile Banner
600 × 240 px · 5:2
The strip at the top of your profile card. Your avatar overlaps the lower left corner, so keep text and faces to the right.
Invite Background
1920 × 1080 px · 16:9
The full-screen image behind your invite link. The invite card sits on top in the centre, so a calm image with detail at the edges works best.
FAQ
512 × 512 px is the safe choice. Discord accepts icons from 128 × 128 px and shows them as a circle, so keep the subject centred with some margin. Animated icons need Boost Level 1.
Upload 1920 × 1080 px (16:9). The minimum is 960 × 540 px. Server banners need Boost Level 2, and the channel list shows only part of the image, so centre the important part.
Use 600 × 240 px (5:2). Profile banners need Nitro. Your avatar covers part of the lower left, so place text and faces towards the right.
Discord scales and recompresses uploads. Start from the exact size, export a high-quality JPG or a PNG, and avoid enlarging a small original.
